A folding fan flew out of Xie Yuling’s hand, circled around the three assassins, and returned to his hand. He flicked the fan lightly and snorted, “Greedy Wolf?”
Standing below, Luo Qin looked at Feng Zuojun and Xie Yuling who had settled the two waves of assassins with thunderous momentum, and couldn’t help swallowing. “Are all the junior brothers in the academy so terrifying nowadays?”
“You think I chose them for nothing?” Nangong Xi’er smiled and said, “They are all the strongest monsters in this generation of the academy.”
Luo Qin nodded, “I see.” He put away his double knives and retreated to the side, looking at Su Baiyi.
Su Baiyi smiled at Luo Qin, “Senior brother, what’s up?”
Luo Qin waved his hand and made a “please” gesture, “There are still four on the left wall.”
Su Baiyi immediately understood what Luo Qin was getting at. His senior had just witnessed Feng Zuojun and Xie Yuling each showcase their martial skills, so it was naturally his turn next. Not only Luo Qin, but even Feng Zuojun and Xie Yuling were looking at him expectantly…
“According to the development of the novel, it should be my turn to make a move.” Su Baiyi looked at the sky awkwardly, “But I always feel that you have some misunderstandings about me.”
“Okay, stop dawdling.” Nangong Xi’er urged, “Hurry up.”
“Alright, then let me show you mine.” Su Baiyi suddenly shouted, “Seeing flowers in the mist!”
Seeing flowers in the mist?
Everyone present was shocked. This famous sword technique of Xie Kanhua only existed in legend for them. They had heard that when Xie Kanhua used this move, he would burst out two layers of sword qi. One layer spread out like a blooming lotus, while the other solidified at the tip of the sword, forming the “Life-taking Flower”. The storyteller in the teahouse loved to describe this flower with a phrase that was somewhat cliché yet never tiring—
“No one has ever seen this flowers in the mist technique, those who have are all dead.” Xie Yuling said in a deep voice.
Su Baiyi stepped on the wall, holding the hilt of his sword with one hand.
“What a fast speed.” Luo Qin exclaimed.
Su Baiyi lowered his head slightly, a fierce killing intent flashing in his eyes as he looked at the four assassins standing by the left courtyard wall. “Witness my ‘Seeing Flowers in the Mist’!”
The four assassins finally reacted, glanced at each other and immediately abandoned their swords, running away.
Su Baiyi let out a long breath, moved his hand away from the hilt, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and whispered, “That scared me to death.”
The other four people in the field frowned, thinking about Su Baiyi’s sword just now.
“Is this ‘Seeing Flowers in the Mist?” Xie Yuling whispered, “I didn’t expect it to be so fast that I couldn’t even see the moment he drew his sword.”
Feng Zuojun also licked his lips and said faintly, “It seems that I have to defeat him to become the strongest man in this generation of the academy.”
Su Baiyi leaped back to Nangong Xi’er’s side, Luo Qin walked up and patted Su Baiyi’s shoulder. “This sword technique was truly impressive. I didn’t expect you to be the disciple of Master Xie, my childhood wish was to see this ‘Seeing Flowers in the Mist’ technique with my own eyes, it’s really a dream come true.”
“Huh?” Su Baiyi was stunned.
Xie Yuling also jumped down from the roof, nodding in agreement. “Seventh Uncle’s sword technique truly lives up to its reputation. If I ever meet him in the future, I must ask him to teach it to me.”
“Huh?” Su Baiyi was even more confused.
“Under normal circumstances, I’d definitely spar with you,” Feng Zuojun said, hoisting his bamboo sword onto his shoulder. “But today is urgent, so let’s save it for another time.”
Su Baiyi thought: What are you talking about? I didn’t even draw my sword! How did you see my sword technique? Could it be that my sword technique should be so fast that even I can’t see myself?
Nangong Xi’er smiled helplessly, only she could be sure that Su Baiyi’s hand had never moved after he placed it on the hilt. Those assassins were clearly scared away by his movement and words. But she didn’t expose him, she just walked forward. “Let’s go. Don’t waste time here.”
The courtyard gate creaked open, revealing seven black-clad assassins wielding long knifes. They stood in different positions, seemingly forming a strange formation.
“These guys are still not running, they are really persistent.” Feng Zuojun impatiently picked his ears, “Senior sister, let me do it!”
“The Big Dipper Formation?” Luo Qin’s voice held a hint of worry as he reached out to stop Feng Zuojun, “Seven as one, one as seven, a siege formation. hey were forming this at the gate while we were fighting in the courtyard. So this was their trump card. This is going to be troublesome.”
“Senior Brother Luo, perhaps it’s me being nosy, but I can’t help but say something,” Nangong Xier sighed softly.
Luo Qin asked in confusion, “Say what?”
“Although Mr. Confucius told you not to be arrogant, you shouldn’t overestimate your opponents either.” Nangong Xi’er walked straight ahead.
“Be careful!” Luo Qin said anxiously.
But Nangong Xi’er had already walked to the side of the leader of the assassins. She looked at him and asked coldly, “The Big Dipper Formation?”
Beads of sweat, the size of beans, rolled down the forehead of the lead assassin. His hand, gripping the long knife, trembled violently. Nangong Xier stood right in front of him; all he had to do was swing his sword and he could take her head. Yet, the sword suddenly felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, impossible to lift. Finally, he gave up, discarding his weapon and falling to his knees.
He didn’t understand why he had to drop his sword, why he had to kneel down, and why he wanted to kowtow after kneeling down.
“This is the Emperor’s Bow!” Luo Qin widened his eyes.
“Butterfly Wind knows a lot indeed.” Nangong Xi’er walked forward again. Wherever she stepped, those assassins all dropped their long knives and knelt on the ground. They sweated profusely, their eyes bulged as if they had just experienced something utterly terrifying. After passing by the seven people, Nangong Xi’er turned and flashed a bright smile at the others. “Well? Aren’t you coming?”
“Senior Sister called us monsters, but this is what a real monster looks like,” Su Baiyi muttered, glancing at the assassins who had all fainted after kneeling.
“You haven’t seen anything yet.” Feng Zuojun smiled and walked forward, “Senior sister’s strength is beyond your imagination.”
Xie Yuling asked Luo Qin in a low voice, “What is Emperor’s Bow? What kind of martial art is it?”
Luo Qin’s expression returned to normal. He ignored Xie Yuling and stepped back. He spread his hands and a pair of mechanical wings unfolded behind him. With a push of his feet, he soared into the air. “Junior Sister Nangong, be careful on this trip.”
Nangong Xi’er turned her head. “I know, senior brother. The remaining two, hurry up!”
“Emperor’s Bow?” Su Baiyi silently memorized these two words.
Awesome. Thanks.
