The atmosphere in the room suddenly became a little strange.
Bai Hehuai turned around, gently fanning to disperse the smoke from the incense stick.
The Patriarch stroked the Sleeping Dragon Sword beside him, lost in thought.
The two seemed to have reached a silent understanding, neither speaking. After a moment of silence, Bai Hehuai finally said, “Patriarch, I’ve thought of a method to completely remove the poison from your body, but it’s somewhat dangerous.”
The Patriarch’s face twitched slightly. “Oh? Do tell.”
In the courtyard, Mu Yumo put on her rabbit-head mask again and continued gazing at the bright moon in the sky. Suddenly, a white paper butterfly floated down leisurely. Mu Yumo raised her finger, and the butterfly landed on her fingertip, fluttering gently before suddenly bursting into flames. Mu Yumo waved her hand abruptly and shouted, “You guys take the Patriarch and leave first!”
Hearing the commotion, Bai Hehuai inside the room exchanged a glance with Patriarch. She quickly extinguished the incense stick and picked up her medicine chest. “We barely had a moment’s respite, and now we must flee again.”
The Patriarch put on his clothes and picked up the Sleeping Dragon Sword. “Once you cure me, no one will dare to come after us!”
Just then, with a loud boom, a hole was blasted through the back wall of the house, and the carriage was already waiting outside.
“As expected of the Spider Shadows, every action is so swift,” Bai Hehuai sighed, then shouldered her medicine chest and walked out.
Soon, Mu Yumo was the only one left in the courtyard. She raised her hand slightly, and nearly a hundred white paper butterflies fluttered up from all around. The paper butterflies emitted a fluorescent glow, beautiful yet eerie.
A slender figure landed on the courtyard wall. The man was wearing a peculiar garment, seemingly a robe woven from pure black feathers.
“I thought some kind of expert was coming, but you look like a crow.” Mu Yumo sneered.
The man lowered his head, looking at Mu Yumo. He flicked his finger, and a tiny, almost invisible needle shot towards her. Mu Yumo didn’t see the needle, but felt a powerful force coming at her. She instinctively stepped back and said in a deep voice, “Dragon Whisker Needle. You’re from the Tang Sect.” As soon as she finished speaking, a crisp sound like an eggshell cracking rang out. Mu Yumo’s rabbit mask shattered instantly – the Dragon Whisker Needle had sliced through her mask.
“Tang Sect, Tang Lianyue,” the man said, his tone unchanging despite the stunning beauty revealed beneath Mu Yumo’s mask.
Mu Yumo gasped, “Tang Lianyue! The Black Tortoise Guardian of Tianqi City!”
“The person I’m looking for isn’t you. Where’s your Patritach? I want to see him,” Tang Lianyue said slowly.
Mu Yumo suppressed her panic and forced a smile. “Even if you are the Black Tortoise Guardian of Tianqi City, firstly, this isn’t Tianqi City, and secondly, we of the Dark River have never obeyed government orders. The Patriarch isn’t someone you can just see whenever you want.”
Tang Lianyue shook his head and said, “I’m not here as the Black Tortoise Guardian of Tianqi City. I’m here as a disciple of the Tang Sect. Your Dark River Patriarch killed our Tang Sect’s Second Elder. I’m here to settle this debt.”
Mu Yumo was even more surprised. The Dark River Patriarch personally killing the Tang Sect’s Second Elder was an absolutely confidential matter. Even within the Spider Shadows, only a few knew the details. How did Tang Lianyue, who was far away in Tianqi City, know about it? Mu Yumo said gravely, “Black Tortoise Guardian, where did you get this information? What if it’s a baseless accusation?”
Tang Lianyue replied, “There’s a sword wound on Second Elder Tang’s chest, extremely fine and thin, yet it completely shattered the heart within his chest. There’s only one sword in the world capable of such a wound, and that’s your Patriarch’s Sleeping Dragon Sword.”
Mu Yumo grew increasingly alarmed but maintained her composure. “Nonsense. Who told you this?”
Tang Lianyue slowly said, “Someone from your Dark River.”
“Just anyone claiming to be from the Dark River told you this and you believed them?” Mu Yumo retorted.
“I think that person’s words carry some weight as a member of Dark River, even though I despise him. Of course, some things, you’ll know once you’ve seen them yourself.” Tang Lianyue turned around. “The Patriarch isn’t here, you’re the only one left. You’re just stalling for time by talking to me.”
“Want to leave?” Mu Yumo waved her hand, and the paper butterflies swiftly flew towards Tang Lianyue.
“Illusionary Paper Butterflies.” The black feathered robe on Tang Lianyue fluttered slightly as dozens of hidden weapons flew out from his sleeves. Sparks flew, and all the paper butterflies spontaneously ignited before they could get within ten feet of Tang Lianyue, turning into ashes that scattered in the air.
Such mastery of hidden weapons… Mu Yumo, chosen as a member of the Spider Shadows, was naturally a top expert of her generation in the Mu family. During her years as an assassin for the Mu family, she had encountered skilled hidden weapon experts, yet Tang Lianyue’s skill and speed were beyond anything she’d witnessed. Was this the strength of a top expert from the Hundred Sages Hall’s supreme rankings? Mu Yumo took a step back, clasped her hands together, and shouted, “Rise!”
“A petty trick.” Tang Lianyue stepped forward and crushed a black spider under his foot. The spider’s color blended perfectly with the courtyard wall, making it extremely difficult to notice. “You used the Illusionary Paper Butterflies as bait, letting this Netherworld Spider stealthily approach me. Did you think I wouldn’t notice?”
“A fool who thinks himself clever,” Mu Yumo smiled.
Tang Lianyue suddenly sensed something amiss and quickly retreated. With a loud boom, the Netherworld Spider exploded, shattering half the courtyard wall. Tang Lianyue landed ten feet away and said in a deep voice, “Netherworld Spiders usually attack with venomous silk. What did you put inside it?”
“Whatever your Tang Sect fears most, that’s what I put inside!” Mu Yumo laughed. “Thunderclap Pellets from the Lei Family of Thunderclap Hall, of course!”
Tang Lianyue looked down, and his feet were already covered with dozens of spiders. He recalled some rumors he had heard long ago, “You’re from the Dark River’s Mu family, the Spider Woman.”
“I hate that nickname!” Mu Yumo cursed.
A series of explosions followed, the entire courtyard wall was instantly blown to smithereens. The black feathered robe flickered in the firelight and then vanished without a trace.
Mu Yumo let out a sigh of relief, “It seems that the Guardians of Tianqi are not so difficult to deal with after all.”
“Our Tang Sect doesn’t fear the Lei Family Fort.” A calm voice suddenly sounded behind Mu Yumo. “Therefore, I don’t fear your Thunderclap Pellets either.”
Looking forward to next episode 😍😍
